Oktoberfest 2000

An Invitation

to

Celebrate the Harvest

The 2 year fast is over!  The Glewwe Estate is hosting another in a series of Oktober Festivals. Because of past year's apple pressings have been so successful, we will coordinate the two activities into a full day of festivities. The specific details are:

Date: Saturday  October 14th, 2000 (pray for the grace of warm weather)
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Apple Pressing
3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Celebrate with Food, Drink, and Merriment
Food: Will be served between 5 and 6 p.m.
Where: 4620 207th Street East, Spring Lake Township (~4 miles south of Prior Lake)

Yes!  Last year we had a wonderful time pressing 120 gallons of apple juice. This year we would like you to join us.  I don't know how much juice we can press this year, but I do know that we will be pressing apples as the first part of the activities.  I know I will be filling a few carboys.  It is a wonderful drink.  If you would like some, bring a jug.  If you would like lots, I suggest bringing bushels of apples (from Webber's Orchard?) - the seconds are more than adequate and not as expensive.

Then in the mid-afternoon, we will keep with traditional entertainment.  We will provide beverages (beer, wine, root beer) and an entree (hamburgers, hotdogs, or some such thing). We ask that you bring a favorite food to share with the others. Remember our motto: If it is good, bring lots. If not, bring enough for yourself. Weather permitting, we will build a bon fire at dusk. Entertainment includes eating, drinking, mingling, telling Ole & Lena jokes, discussing the weather, visiting with old friends and new acquaintances, and trying to guess "who are those other people?"  This is intended to be a family friendly festival of excessive eating, drinking, and merrimaking; so feel free to bring the kids.

We will have distinctly fine brews from around the world as well as some cider & mead to tickle your tastebuds.  In addition, the Root Beer will be homemade. Also we will find some sort of food to add to your contributions.

This year’s theme: Ahhh!  Celebration of Life!

RSVP (952-440-4558) is requested, but not required. See our map. (We are at the corner of 207th & Calmor)
